Jungle mural in Alexandria | Turning an eyesore into a visual asset
Studio Dennis was engaged to transform an uninspiring side passage in Alexandria by introducing a custom jungle mural — designed not just to add colour, but to visually soften a neighbouring wall that overlooked the space.
The aim was to extend the garden vertically, creating a more immersive, lush outlook from the home and softening the hard edges of the built environment. The mural features layered tropical foliage, designed to compliment the existing landscape planting and make the passageway feel more vibrant and inviting.
“This wasn’t just a mural — it was a visual upgrade to a private outlook,” said Andrew Boddam-Whetham of Studio Dennis. “We wanted it to feel like the garden continued up the wall.”
Painted directly onto the rendered wall, the design was custom-developed to reflect the surrounding plants and shadows, giving the effect of a seamless green corridor.
This kind of project is ideal for urban courtyards, side entries, or narrow spaces where garden areas are limited, but visual impact matters.
